All participants, regardless of gender, draw for team and position and so you might find an absolute novice acting as skip with other experienced players out of their normal   comfort zone. Each player carries a card and marks their own scores for each end played. The rinks are redrawn at the conclusion of each 4 ends. 4 sets of 4 ends are played. There are two awards – one for the top scoring lady and the other for the top scoring gent. Top score is defined as the greatest differential of shots for and against.

Arnold Burley: 2 wood pairs
All players will have names entered into a draw to select the pairs which will be fixed for the duration of the tournament.
The names will be sorted by gender and the organiser will draw one from each gender as far as there are an equal number.
If there are more players of one gender than the other then the remaining players will form same sex pairs.
The pairs will remain constant throughout the game and will decide who will lead between themselves.
Play will consist of 5 sets of 4 ends.
One player of each pair will be responsible for the score card. The scores for and against are to be recorded.
This competition can only have a round number of players (i.e. multiples of 2).

Expanded rules for dealing with various numbers of entrants are available to the organiser.

Arrangements for play in Club Competitions.

All paid up members will be entered into each appropriate competition in a random draw and the chart of matches will be displayed on the noticeboard.

The first listed player (home) in each match must contact the opponent and offer a choice of three dates to play the games having due regard to existing rink bookings, matches, etc, and well ahead of the deadline date shown on the chart. A marker must also be invited once the date has been agreed. Failure to approach the opponent will result in forfeiture of the match.

The match will be played in accordance with the rules set out in this book. The winner will move to the next round and should enter their name in the appropriate column.

This procedure is repeated for each round except the final.

The finals will be played on two fixed dates so that no one player has to play more than two matches in a  day.

One men’s final and one ladies’ final may be played at the same time.

Day 1*:  Owen Goody Cup, William Prowse Trophy, Champion of Champions and Margaret Balston Trophy.

Day 2*: 2 Wood Singles, Rex Pascoe Shield, Benevolent Pairs and Bet Smith Rosebowl.

Reserve days, in case of adverse weather will be allocated in the fixture list.

* The games for particular days may be changed to suit availability of finalists.
