Club Structure and Membership

The Club is a member led organisation and as such members are elected to Office and the Committee to ensure the smooth running of the Club.

The principal officer posts are:

President (Chairs meetings) & Vice President

Treasurer & Assistant Treasurer

Secretary and Fixture Secretary (currently combined)

Green Keeper

Welfare/Safeguarding Officer

The Club Captains and Vice Captains also sit on the committee: Ladies, Men's & Strollers.

The committee meets as required and deals with all aspects of Club life.

The Club is affiliated to both Bowls Cornwall and Bowls England.

We work to a constitution which is displayed on the Club noticeboard and included in the fixture list which is issued to all Members annually.

Membership of our friendly Club is open to all regardless of ability, fitness, gender or orientation, subject to application and acceptance, on payment of the current subscription.

We offer three levels of membership:

Playing adult Member

Playing Junior Member (who do not pay a subscription)

Non-playing Social Member

We also have Honorary Life Membership which is conferred on those considered by the Club to have given outstanding service to the Club, usually over a substantial number of years.

Running the Club and maintaining the premises involves considerable expenditure which is met by subscription income and fund-raising activities, such as whist drives and bingo. We are also obliged to pay affiliation fees to our local groups as well as Bowls Cornwall and Bowls England.

A concessionary joining fee is levied in the first year as we acknowledge that there are other expenses that new members need to meet such as Club Uniform and a set of bowls. Currently this is set at one third of the full subscription to cover the affiliation fees.

Subscriptions are decided by the Members at the Annual general Meeting which is held in November each year.

In addition to the AGM a meeting is held each Spring when we look forward eagerly to the coming season.

Another significant event is our Annual Luncheon and Presentation of prizes which is normally held in November each year.
